Hello dear reader, it has been a little while.
A lot has been going on in my wee corner of the world, with the hectic holidays leading me directly into a rather expeditious move. Actually, it was pretty chaotic, but definitely quick. I packed my bags and left my beautiful California beach bungalow behind. If it was appropriate, I’d insert a sad face emoji here. The good news? I am finally settled and will be back to my usual antics soon (happy face emoji here), but I just could not let today pass without sharing a playlist.
This is a playlist about love in all its forms, from lust or jealousy to the most genuine loyalty and fondness imaginable. It also spans the genres like some mad genius. An Elton John classic snuggles up against a cryptic Elliot Smith song; The Captain & Tennile lead right into The Flaming Lips; Bob Dylan, The Beatles and Stevie Wonder seem right at home with Selena Gomez, Beyonce and Garbage; basically, there is something for everyone. The title track, Vincent Gallo’s Honey Bunny, sets a sombre tone. But not to worry, if you stick with it you’ll be bouncing along to Queen’s Crazy Little Thing Called Love in no time.
If you have some time today, or any day really, take a ride on this musical roller coaster that love seems to have inspired. Whether it be a standard you’ve heard thousands of times or something completely new, it will certainly be universally relatable
Happy Valentine’s Day, everyone!
Excellent playlist! I don't need to play it to know that it's excellently curated. I wondered where you disappeared. Glad you are back to the Substack interwebs.
